carving neeps

Neeps! – what are they? If you don’t live in Scotland you probably call them turnips. For hundreds of years they have been carved out to make lanterns to light the way for lost spirits on All Hallows’ Eve – the night of the year when th veil between the living and the dead is at its thinnest.

Watercolour street scene in greens and pinks, a small girl and boy are playing with vegetable offerings left on doorsteps.

good-night moon

A project to illustrate a children’s poem about children from opposite sides of the world who connect through the same moon.

camping in Scotland

Tents! Marshmallows! Midgies! Rain! We love camping in Scotland, nothing beats the unpredictibility of the weather, wildlife, the temperature! It’s all worth it for the unbelievable spaces you can spend the night in and the lovely people you might meet.
